Bett (British Educational Training and Technology Show), the world’s largest EdTech event brings together educators, innovators, policymakers, and tech providers to connect, inspire, and imagine the future of education.

Every year in London, Bett creates an amazing, idea-packed experience with hundreds of exhibits, trainings, workshops, panel discussions, and keynotes across the education technology landscape.

Capturing all that energy and insight is not an easy thing to do - but I think Bett is a fabulous example of how this can be done brilliantly, Here are the many creative ways Bett was captured in 2025!

🎥 An Event Video

When you watch the event recap, you’re not just seeing what happened - you may feel what it was like to be there. Here's a brilliant example from the first day at Bett 2025!

📸 Photo Gallery

A good photo captures a moment — but a whole gallery captures the feel of the event. From close-up to wide shots, from bird’s-eye views to low ground angles, creative photography gives us a vivid sense of the event — no matter how large.

✍️ Articles & Social Media Posts

Written reflections give valuable context - highlighting the event’s scale (like 35,000 attendees or 660+ exhibitors), outlining key content and takeaways, and capturing the overall impact. They help organizers share insights, celebrate successes, and extend the event’s value beyond the day itself.

🎨 Live Event Illustration

This is where I come in...

I'm Julia Bakay, a Keynote Artist and Visual Strategist Live illustration adds a dynamic visual element that captures key moments and themes, creating shareable content that leaves a lasting impression beyond the event. Its hand-drawn, human quality brings a warm, creative energy that helps ideas come to life in a unique way.

This event was special because it brought together the two main approaches I have to creating Visual Summaries; the Live Graphic Recording and the strategic, collaborative Infographic building approach.

This means that some of these Visual Summaries were created before and after the event in collaboration with the Bett team, while others were drawn in real-time (also known as live Visual Minuting).

🎨 Visual Summary of the Conference

We created a big-picture visual summary that captures the key moments and stats of Bett 2025 - all at a glance!

🤝 Visual Summary for the Key Partners

Bett’s partners are a huge part of what makes the event so impactful. At Bett’s request, I created this visual summary as a way of thanking them the support and celebrating this partnership. While at ExCeL London, I walked up to each partner’s stand and asked what they are most proud of, so their answers shaped the content of this piece.

🖍️ Live Visual Minutes During Panel Discussions

Bett launched two exciting activities to bring together a range of educators from schools, colleges, universities and governments for great conversations around the EdTech space; these were called the TableTalks and the Fishbowl.

I got to join both of these to capture some of the key takeaways in real-time!

Visual Summaries: Capturing Your Event’s Energy and Ideas

Bett shows that you don’t need to choose just one way to capture an event. The best strategy is a blend: photography, video, writing, and visual storytelling - each adding a new layer.

If you're planning an event, consider how you’ll preserve not only the energy, but the ideas themselves.

And, if you'd like to try visual summaries, I’d love to hear from you!
