Most of my work comes from two places

As a graphic illustrator specialising in (remote) live event illustration, I get most of my work from two sources:

  • People who search for Graphic Recording on Google

  • People who have seen me Graphic Recording at a conference!

Word of mouth and recommendations are the greatest source of future work.

People get in touch already knowing they'd like to work with me, and that's just a wonderful way to get started.

Why crediting your Graphic Recorder matters

In the age of mass-produced AI images, it's more important than ever to credit the human artist when you share a piece they created for you. It's not just art, it's a compilation of creative and intellectual nuance, skill, and talent. Your graphic recording artist deserves to be mentioned, and people will appreciate the piece more once they see or meet the human behind it.

This is such an important one that I happen to have a separate article on how and why to introduce your Live Illustrator! Introducing and envolving the Graphic Recording artist will elevate the event experience, and will help bring even more value out of Graphic Recording.

Credit your Graphic Recording artist on social media

When sharing on social media (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, or anywhere else) please tag your artist. Firstly, it's a simple way to honour their work. Secondly, it lets them follow the journey the piece goes on and enjoy all the wonderful feedback it receives. As a bonus, their followers and connections will discover your work through this piece, which can bring many unexpected benefits.

Credit your Graphic Recording artist on your website

If you share their artwork on your website or in a newsletter, consider adding a small credit beneath the image with a link to their website. This helps Google connect the artwork with its original creator, strengthening the association between the piece and the artist behind it.

It's a small gesture that takes only a moment, but can make a real difference for your artist.

Recommend your artist to others

A good professional - whether they're an artist, a facilitator, or any kind of consultant - isn't always easy to find. If you've had a wonderful experience with your graphic recorder, don't keep them a secret.

Recommendations are so valuable because they come with trust already built in. When you tell a colleague, a client, or a friend about someone you loved working with, you're helping them find a professional you already know delivers great results.

As a small thank you, I have a referral scheme. If someone you recommend books a project with me, you'll receive 10% off your next project!

It's my way of saying thank you for your kindness and for supporting my small & independent creative business.

Thank you!
