Can Financial Jargon be fun and engaging?
...well, that's the idea and request BD Giving found me with!
BD Giving is a fantastic charity working to make London Borough of Barking & Dagenham a better place to live. They are driven by the principle that the people who are affected by financial decisions should be making those decisions.
Therefore, they've been creating a toolkit to equip locals to participate in these processes - and that's how our creative collaboration came about. After a few weeks of illustrating their journey map, we tackled their Financial & Social Jargon.
Visual Metaphors to engage and educate
The goal was to illustrate each of these financial terms in a way that's not only appropriate, but unique and witty. The better the visual metaphor, the more it will engage people with one's message. Therefore, it was important to spend time analyzing each of the Financial Jargon definitions, so that I could come up with the most original and useful illustration possible!
